C-TAP (Current Technology Assurance Program) is a program that allows Telewire Inc. to offer you the ability to fix your telecommunications costs and stay current with the latest equipment. This allows you to be more productive and service your customers more efficiently.
- C-TAP is similar to a lease program but it enables you to refresh equipment after the second year. If you do not take advantage of the refresh option after year five, you can replace the equipment with a new phone system. This will allow you to take advantage of the latest applications and integration options, many times at no change in your monthly payment.

New 4-site networking project
We were recently awarded a 4-site networking project for a local water conditioning firm. Our customer has a primary location in Salisbury, MD, a secondary site in Delaware, and has plans to open new offices in Forrest Hill, MD and in the Hanover, PA area. This customer had been happy with the Mitel 5000 communications server at the HQs location for a few years now, and they wanted to expand that solution into their branch offices. Mitel’s platform comes with IP-networking inherent to that solution, so our hope is that their high-speed Comcast service will be robust enough for voice transport between the sites. This will give them free, desk-to-desk intercom capabilities across their IP network.
It is important to design an VOIP application carefully, so we met with the customer’s IT vendor to go through some guidelines with them- what types of switches we prefer, where the firewall should be placed, and general network topography. Ironing out these details in advance will make sure that we optimize the quality of the VOIP calls, even if we are not able to control the conditions of the public Internet environment.
Once we have provisioned high-speed Comcast service at each location, our plan is to use the AppNeta network performance and diagnostics tool to look at the quality of the connection between the offices. That will be important in establishing expectations for voice quality. It will allow us to set a baseline for what the network conditions look like today. We realize that the network can change day-to-day, minute-to-minute, but with AppNeta we will be able to see trends, to get a broad picture.
The solution is designed so that each site will have its own pool of local lines, its own call processor, and its own voice mail, so that they will be reliant on the network only for transferred calls on inter-site intercom calls. Mitel is really the industry leader in multi-site IP networking, and we could not be happier that this customer selected Telewire for this project.
